Cute story about a pig
We found the book "Hamilton" in a 2nd hand store. My daughter (4 yrs old) really loved this book. The pictures were wonderful and expressive. I would caution parents of children under 2-1/2 due to the wolf pictures. The wolf is portrayed as "mean" and the pictures express this. A story about a pig who was teased because he was fat teaches children that you can be a hero no matter what size you are.

My All Time Favorite Children's Book!
This book is absolutely delightful. It is a favorite book for me to share with children. It has rhythmic rhymes, humor, surprises, and it is easy for children to join in with you while you read to them. In this story the wolf "gets it" from the pig in the end. If you have a child ages 4-7 you need this book. It will be one they ask you to read over and over again.

PS - I also use this book while teaching my college Psychology class. I use it to introduce the topic of obesity. My freshman love this book too and they get a kick out of the story line.

Hamilton Wristwatches
Published in Hardcover by Rene Rondeau (01 May, 1999)
Author: Rene Rondeau
Average review score:

It's About Time
Mr. Rondeau has assembled a very high quality research book on the subject of Hamilton watches. It is a "must have" for anyone who is serious about collecting (or just learning more about) Hamilton timepieces.

The Bible for Hamilton Manual Collectors
Renee's labor of love is a "godsend" for those of us who's passion is the collecting of vintage American wristwatches. As my collection is centered around the classic tanks for Gruen, Bulova and Hamilton, this book was the ultimate source on the hundreds of models produced, their respective movements, their histories, original ads, and production figures, when available. He wisely stays away from "price guides" which would "date" the book, and be subjective. Its usefulness or interest would be a bit limited to non-Hamilton fanatics, but a worthwhile addition to any horological library.

Love, Debra

Author: Fritz Hamilton

The author writes about a painful subject in a loving way.
Sometimes a painful childhood is enough to make a child drop off the edge. Those reading this book probably haven't done so, or may just be teetering there. It's one thing to just write a dramatic story, but it's another to capture a painful life in a compassionate way that others not in that situation can follow and relate to. A well-written, important book at a time when homelessness and addiction are so prevalent, and even moreso for the children/teens who may be teetering...

Good Book for Teens
This book is a good read for teens--informative on the harsh realities of street life, sexual abuse, and AIDS. Eye-opening for any teen who's thought of running away from home.

Mind, Time and Power! Using the hidden power of your mind to heal your past, transform your present, create your future
Published in Spiral-bound by Lifeworks Publishing Company (01 March, 2000)
Author: Anthony Hamilton
Average review score:

Success, relativity speaking.
The scientists aren't gonna like this one! Using modern science to have a more effective experience of life. I'm betting readers of this book will have to prove Anthony's theories for themselves. If they do, there'll be no limits on what they can do, IMO. I've started the work Anthony has suggested and it feels right. May I suggest all books be coil-bound? That is SO convenient.

The magician within
Anthony Hamilton has written a highly accessible book on a very complex subject. He moves beyond theory and shows practical processes for achieving what you want. The book is well structured and supported with many examples. It is obvious that this book is the result of many years of observation, trial, testing and thought. It is believable, doable and practical. My recommendation, buy this book! Cornelis Slenters, Program director 'Creative Achievement'

If I read this book enough
What made me enjoy this Miss Seton so much was the description of the cricket! I could actually follow the game, um, match!

Wonderful Read
Ms. Seeton adventures are the best reads that I have come across. I am a thirty something that loves these types of British sleuthing novels. I re-read these novels several times a year, I have them all. The cricket game scene was just so wonderful. I love this book.

Miss Seeton Rocks the Cradle
This book keeps you wondering who done it. This is a must to read for all mystery readers!

Great Read!
Ms. Seeton adventures are the best reads that I have come across. I am a thirty something that loves these types of British sleuthing novels. I re-read these novels several times a year, I have them all. My favorite used bookstore in Los Angeles had the entire series out of out-of-print ones, so I stocked up on all of them at once. They were over with too quickly. .... Maybe I should have waited and only gotten one book a month!!

They are truly one of a kind. I love the time period and the many scrapes that she seems to fall into. They're truly hilarious, while the novels maintain the suspense. I love Britain and try to get to London and environs once every couple of years or so.

The Most Beautiful Man in Existence: The Scandalous Life of Alexander Lesassier
Published in Hardcover by University of Pennsylvania Press (June, 1999)
Author: Lisa Rosner
Average review score:

A most charming Rogue; or, why house calls cost Extra
What a modern occurrence: a young man works only enough to get by, seduces every lovely young thing he can, spends himself into bankruptcy, and abuses his professional position, all the while wondering with complete innocence why the world isn't beating a path to his door. But Rosner's book isn't a comedy of 20th-century errors; it's the tale of a Regency-era stud who badly needed to be disabused of his notions. Fear not. He never was. Each few pages brings some fresh misadventure, in which the good doctor thinks he's found the perfect source of free money or true love, while you, the reader, are already squirming in anticipation of disaster. Here's a taste: Lesassier's specialty is obstetrics, at which he actually was quite competent. However, there was that little problem with him seducing his patients. This book does take a certain amount of attention to read. Published for the academic community, it's page after page of small print and few illustrations. It's well worth the effort.

Fascinating tale of life as left out by Jane Austen
This is a remarkably engaging tale based on the in-depth study of an 18th century physician's voluminous diary. In this actual history that reads like a page-turning novel, Rosner brings to life an ambitious, social climbing man from his youth and his training through a career marked by multiple scandals. A reader is forced to wonder how much the world of the protagonist's sexual pecadillos and ambitious exploitative manipulations are reflected behind the scenes in today's medical world. The author has turned scrupulous historical scholarship into a fully engrossing read.

The New Back Doctor: The Program for Lifetime Relief from Back Pain
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books of Canada Ltd (June, 1995)
Author: Hamilton Hall
Average review score:

Now I know what's going on back there!
I found this book very helpful in that it differentiates between various types of back pain by using four different categories for back pain. It allowed me to understand what kind of pain I have and to put it into a context. It also gave me specific exercises that are good for me. The book is not particularly kind to chiropractors, but I believe it is fair and generally open minded, and optimistic. I especially appreciated his emphasis on attitude.

The BEST "read" for Anybody with any kind of back problem
a must READ. and for some even a MUST OWN.

Nothing Endures but Change (Road to Avonlea, No 11)
Published in Paperback by Bantam Skylark (August, 1900)
Author: Gail Hamilton
Average review score:

Blair Stanley shows up to take Sarah away from Aunt Hetty
I do not think Lucy Maud Montgomery ever came up with a more maddening creation that Hetty King, the self-appointed moral judge of the King clan in Avonlea. "Nothing Endures but Change" finds that Blair Stanley, Sara's father, has been acquitted of the scandalous embezzlement charges that forced him to send his daughter to live with her mother's relatives on Prince Edward Island. Blair arrives in Avonlea ready to take Sara back to Montreal, at which point everyone of Sara's King relatives absolutely freaks. None, of course, as much as Hetty, who announces she will not give the child up to her father. Hetty has always blamed Blair for not only taking her sister Ruth away but in living a decadent life (of travel) that resulted in her death (she caught tuberculosis at home in Montreal). Hetty also has a few things to say about what appears to be happening between Olivia and Jasper Dale, which only makes you wonder how Alec ever managed to get away from Hetty's all encompassing powers. Sara wants to say goodbye to all her friends and attend the upcoming skating party she has been looking forward to, but her father wants to get out of Avonlea and as far away from Hetty as quickly as possible.

Sara cannot abide the thought that two of the people she loves most in the world cannot even talk to each other civilly, and so she hatches up a plan to force their reconciliation. But these two stubborn adults cannot admit for a second that the other cares as much for Sara as they do, which only means that fate is going to have to take a hand to make things right. This storybook is written by Gail Hamilton from the teleplay by Heather Conkie. I am supposed to add at this point that the teleplay, in turn, was adapted from the novels of Lucy Maud Montgomery, but that is not really true with this particular episode. "The Story Girl" told of Sara Stanley's visits each summer to the town of Carlisle on PEI, and while many of the characters are the same, Conkie has come up with a much more original tale. This is not surprising, because the scripts she has adapted from Montgomery's actual stories usually evidence original flairs interwoven with the original tales. For me the chief charm of "Nothing Endures but Change," certainly the loftiest sounding title in the series, is enjoying Hetty King getting her comeuppance a few times. She really is such an intolerant woman for somebody who does so many unforgivable things.

Avonlea without Sara Stanley - Is it Possible?
The ponds have frozen over, and in Avonlea, it is yet again time for the Annual Avonlea Skating Party. Sara Stanley is very excited about the skating party, because it will be the first that she has ever attended since coming to Avonlea. However even the the simpliest layed plans often go wrong. Sara's father, Blair Stanley has come to take Sara home to Montreal, and what's worse, right before the Skating Party, and he won't budge. Then , as if on cue, fire blazes between Sara's Aunt Hetty, and her father Blair, their hatred for each other soaring over the loss of Sara's mother, Blair's wife, Ruth. Sara can't understand why those two hate each other so badly, and is determined that before she ever goes home to Montreal, those two will love each other, even if it means her running away to make them realize how much they all love each other. The King cousins help hid Sara in a spot even the grownups wouldn't look. However, those plans go astray too, and they finally find her, but a bitter argument causes Sara to lose her footing and fall from the top of the barn into the snow. Will she survive, and if she does, will she return to Montreal without fixing a past harm? Good luck, It is one of my favourites!
